On his way to investigate the outcry against Sodom, the Lord discloses his intentions to Abraham. Abraham responds by interceding for the city and drawing from God a promise to spare it if even ten righteous people can be found there. No such remnant exists, and when the angels arrive they are met by a mob while staying at Lot's house. Because of God's incredible mercy, He rescues Lot and his family by force and God destroys the two cities by raining fire on them.
